In Ramadan the most important part of the Iftar Feast is the choice of the drink you choose to serve.
Most families have preferences like Rooh Afza in Milk or with Lemon or Milk and Soda or even in some houses
Cola drinks.
In my house our choice of cold drink at Iftaar is Lemonade. And since these are summer Rozas so since the last few
years Water Melon Juice. You can find the recipe to that post:
Lemonade isn’t really a tough one now is it? However the way I make it at my house it’s slushy and sweet and sour
all at once and very very refreshing. We usually carry our lemonade throughout our summer entertaining as a
substitute for Colas and believe me it’s so refreshing that we haven’t heard any complaints yet.
So see below for the best lemonade recipe ever 🙂
Ingredients:
Squeezed Lemon Juice
Ice
Water
Ground sugar
Method:
You will need a blender or a smoothie maker for this one. Fill your blender to the top with ice. Now add 8 table
spoons of ground sugar. Preferably brown or if possible shakar. It has a smoky earthy taste that lends an extra
something to the Lemonade and is so much better from a health point of view then white sugar.
Add 10 tablespoons of lemon juice, 2 cups of water and blend.
The lemon juice is too much you say? Yes I know but you see the end result has to be tangy and sweet and “strong”
and that is the reason we are adding so much sugar and lemon juice.
Blend well. It will take a couple of minutes and the entire blender will become slushy. Pour a couple of sips in a glass
and taste to ensure that the taste is just right. If not you can add a bit of Sugar or Lemon Juice to make it perfect
keeping the preferences of your family in mind.
Better to make this beforehand, it stays in the freezer without turning to ice for easily 30 to 45 Minutes.
Do not Refrigerate as the ice will melt and it will be a runny sloppy mess!
Serve ice cold and fall in love!
