Let’s face it we all love to talk about ourselves, or what we like or what we plan or what we did and so on and so forth. Of course some of us are quiet, some are shy and some have anxiety opening up but in my experience we all love to talk about ourselves and me most of all!
However I realized lately that the more you talk in a group or in a one to one with anyone the less you have a chance to learn. Everyone in their capacity is a teacher. We might think that we have nothing to learn from certain people but believe me even the simplest (in our eyes) have life experiences or views that might catch us by surprise. None of us is perfect and learning is an ongoing process that helps us evolve.
Now we might not be able to learn new things from anyone just by letting someone else take the lead in conversations and encouraging others to talk but we must remember that there are ideas and vibes that flow from people to us and paying attention to what another person is saying even if the conversation is mundane can be insightful. So less talking about you and more attention to hearing instead of listening to the people round you can be a practice worthy enough to be pursued.
