Okra the Restaurant: A Review
Okra has been around for some time now and is a cozy and popular restaurant on Zamzama in Karachi.
The ideology behind the food is fusion and experimental with decidedly Mediterranean leanings.
It’s a place that has been around for two decades now and a lot of people in Karachi treat it as a place to be seen.
Having repeatedly eaten there over the years I have a definite opinion about Okra that I am sharing with you today. After the first couple of times I’ve never gone there on my own. I have only reluctantly agreed to go there if invited and in recent times I usually make my protests very clear. It’s a place where people of a certain generation go still believing that it’s one of the “IT” places in Karachi. Believe me nothing is further from the truth!
From the ambience which has quit being cozy and can now only be described as a shabby chique to the menu that hardly changes to the servings that are pathetically small ending with a bill that is ridiculously high, Okra is nothing but a disappointment.
It leaves you with the What the heck kinda feeling. If you are someone like me who enjoys food for actually the food then this wannabe place which might once have been good enough is no longer for you!

Tvinkal is an idea that is seeded in the mind of our Muse and CEO Jahanara because of a dearth of good reading material pertaining to Pakistanis. An avid reader herself, she felt that most of the Pakistani Blogs were all about either sensationalism or were so deeply monetized that all they offered were advertisements or endorsements of different brands.
There isn’t a single Pakistani Lifestyle Blog that talks about the real life interests of Pakistanis especially the women. Be it Fashion, Trends, Street Style, Cooking, Shopping, Upcoming Events, Movie Reviews or a take on the International Scene, we just never get to read a Pakistanis Perspective.
And that is how Tvinkal came about!
