The very landscape of relationships has changed over the last decade and concepts like romance and the evolution of
the word girlfriend all attest to this ever changing climate.
However, when a friend called late at night and suggested we catch a midnight show I wasn’t really interested. On a
casual appraisal the movie looked like another love triangle or a comedy of errors.
However, since Luv Ranjan the director has spearheaded some really good movies in the past and I really didn’t
have anything to do this late on a Sunday so I made a spur of the moment choice to go join my friend and see the
movie.
And from there it was a mad cap ride of such comic proportions that I can’t remember the last time I had so much
fun and laughed so hard during a movie.
It was twist upon twist of the most hilarious kind and the screenplay, characters and dialogues flawlessly seemed
together to weave the backdrop of this Indian movie.
But the best part is that just because Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety is a comedy movie it doesn’t mean that it is totally
mindless.
The movie Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety touches upon some really important themes like the point of view of
relationships and marriage that the younger generations have nowadays.
It also showcases the subtle but realistic shift in the mindset of the elders who form the core of our
patriarchal/matriarchal society and the balance maintained within the family systems.
Over all the movie was a 9/10 in terms of good songs, well rounded characters, perfectly timed and executed comedy
and music.
The relatively little known cast has done a spectacular job and deserve the accolades that cinema goers are already
showering on them.
It’s a must see as it isn’t an Indian Masala Movie, it’s Pure Entertainment!
