Dude Shoes

So the post today is about men’s shoes ……

It is at a tangent from what I usually write but it just occurred to me that who is in a better position to judge the way a man looks or for that matter isn’t it important to know for men what women think about men’s fashion and what they judge a man on?

I answered the question with a yes myself and just began writing.

They say you can judge a man by his shoes and that’s undoubtedly true.

Take it from a single woman about the world: A man’s shoes matter. Period!

There are many styles of shoes out there, but the most flattering on a man are dress shoes that can be worn with anything from a suit to a pair of jeans.

Shape wise a guy should totally avoid large bulky squarish shoes.

I mean you do not want to look like a clown… You want your shoes to complement what you are wearing, you want something streamlined and slick. What really is “in”

in current men’s fashion is the slim contour and a somewhat rounded toe. This doesn’t mean your shoes have to be painfully skinny or sharp as knives. You want them to be stylish, tasteful, masculine, but comfortable.

Dude formal shoes come in a handful of different styles. The most typical and probably the most worn are probably the Derby style shoes. These are the most versatile shoes that can be worn with your formal suit or even with your jeans. If you want to be formal then you should go for the oxford style. If you can’t tell the difference between an Oxford and a Derby styled shoe well then join the club. I found out pretty late on in life too!

There is one difference between the two only and that is that the Derby style has flaps for the laces and the Oxford style has no flaps. I am posting pics to illustrate the difference.

Please remember that dress shoes are a necessity. Even if you enjoy a laid back casual approach to clothes a good pair of formal shoes are an essential as you never know when you need to scrub up.

Buy a really good pair preferably leather. Remember that it’s an investment and do bypass the black and experiment with a tan pair. They look great! And speak loads about your personal style.
